Chicago Skyline Photography

When I first met my husband in July 1978 we spent several days, and nights during those initial months sailing on Lake Michigan. My husband's Uncle Earl owned a sailboat which he docked at Burnham Harbor. Each year when boating season began, we would help Earl clean, and open his sail boat for the summer sailing season on the Lake.

I have fond memories sailing on Lake Michigan for many years, with family and friends. We have captured wonderful images of the Chicago Skyline while out sailing on Lake Michigan. We have frequently enjoyed viewing the Fourth of July Fireworks, and the Chicago Air and Water Show from the comfort of the bow of the sail boat.

Unfortunately 2020 has had to endure many annual festivities being cancelled due to Covid-19. I have shared a number of my images I have captured during the years past to my Instagram account, @photographybymaureen to reminisce these festivities.

I will attach a few of my favorite images here as well.

September 2020 Keeping Busy While Social Distancing

Covid-19 has changed how we have been interacting with one another since the stay at home order which was put in place by Governor Pritzker beginning back in March 2020. To keep myself busy while at home during this time I have been learning some new editing techniques. I have been revisiting images taken several years ago, and doing new edits to these images with the skills and techniques I have learned since these images were captured. I am enjoying revisiting these images, and seeing the growth in my editing skills. I hope you enjoy these images edited with my current skills. Looking forward to getting back out and shooting fall family photo sessions. Practicing social distancing is number one priority, stay safe everyone .

This adorable little girl was one of my very first photography sessions which I shot while portfolio building. This session was captured at Lilacia Park, 150 S Park Ave Lombard Illinois 60148

Unfortunately my editing skills at the time this image was captured were not capable of handling the necessary edits needed to remove the facial bruising this little one showed up with on the morning of her session.

Today in 2020 my editing skills are capable of taking on some of the challenging corrections that were needed to remove the facial abrasions this little encountered as a result of a fall a few days prior to her session.

It is always rewarding to see just how much growth I have completed over the years.

Family Sessions

_MG_0501 I was very excited when recently contacted via the Fitz family to do their family session for some reason this image of their adorable son is my favorite thus far from their entire session. I think it is possibly the color in his hat along with the combination of the color of his shirt. Either way his gorgeous eyes immediately grab your attention and just draw you in closer with their sparkle!

It was very exciting to see our work exhibited for the second time in one year. I hope my fellow classmates would be interested in doing this some time again in the near future. My goal is to put together a body of work over the next year for submission into a gallery exhibit locally.

Renaissance Art History

I am very happy to announce this exciting piece of news: A few weeks ago I was contacted by a fellow classmate inquiring about my interest in participating in an upcoming gallery show. A class assignment completed during the spring 2014 semester titled Art History Reproductions was requested to be shown as a complete body of work. Alma was wanting to know if I would be interested if the gallery would accept our work as a group? Seriously, do you even have to ask??? ...... I am certainly on board with any of my work being exhibited in a gallery. Well that is my news our student Art History reproductions will be at Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin Illinois some time in September. I will post the exact dates and time of reception when I find out further information.
